LIADAN's father is quite worried about his daughter's well being. Her wild nature and ability to persuade almost anyone into something gets her into trouble quite often. So, he persuades one of his men, MARCHANN, to watch after her and get to know her better.

Despite their age difference, MARCHANN and LIADAN seem to get along wonderfully at first. They become good friends, but when LIADAN finds out why he really is hanging around her she stops speaking to him and her father.

Then her father comes up with the idea for MARCHANN to court his daughter. LIADAN is furious, but MARCHANN isn't too upset about the idea. He likes LIADAN's company. There is only one problem, LIADAN's heart belongs to another.

MARCHANN and LIADAN manage to put their differences aside and become best friends who often go out together. During one night, the pair stumble into a motel room and sleep together in a drunken haze. They accept what has happened and both realize that they might have feelings for eachother. They move on and think nothing of it.

During the Tournament, however, LIADAN realizes that she is pregnant with a baby fathered by MARCHANN. Both are shocked but decide to keep it a secret. Soon, LIADAN is kidnapped by a spy. MARCHANN, not knowing that she is in the hostage camp, walks into the holding cells to find LIADAN being held captive. He rescues her, only for LIADAN to become furious at MARCHANN for not telling her about being a spy. But the escape and fight takes a toll on the pregnant LIADAN, who soon suffers a miscarriage. MARCHANN comforts LIADAN as well as he can, but becomes somewhat depressed. LIADAN and MARCHANN realize that they feelings for another.

- They become close friends.

- LIADAN finds out why MARCHANN spoke to her, and she stops speaking to him.

- MARCHANN and LIADAN are set up to start courting.

-MARCHANN and LIADAN begin to grow closer and are soon spending nights out on the town together.

-They get drunk and ultimately sleep together, realizing that they might have feelings for eachother.

-LIADAN realizes that she is pregnant with MARCHANN'S baby and tells him quickly.

-LIADAN is kidnapped during the Tournament.

-MARCHANN, a spy, is in the holding cells and sees LIADAN.

-They escape, only to have LIADAN become annoyed and upset that MARCHANN was a spy.

-They have a full on fight about loyalties causing LIADAN to have a miscarriage

-MARCHANN becomes upset, he was getting used to the idea of being a father

-LIADAN is cared for by MARCHANN for a while, until MARCHANN becomes depressed and leaves.

-MARCHANN and LIADAN realize that they have feelings for people other than eachother and drift apart</sub>
