LASSAR, the daughter of the Baker, has accepted her peasantry, but her parents have not. Her father has decided to show her off in court in the hopes that she can find a wealthy husband. LASSAR's parents want her to have a better life than they did, so they think that a wealthy husband is the answer. LASSAR doesn't want this. She is perfectly content with her peasant life, but does it anyway because she knows how important it is to her parents.
One day, while in the market shopping for her mother and the family bakery, LASSAR is spotted by LORCAN. LASSAR is just minding her own business, when LORCAN approaches her. He flirts and tries to woo her, but LASSAR kindly declines and goes on with her life, or at least for as long as she can. LORCAN doesn't seem to want to give up.
There is a certain FEMALE who fancies LORCAN, and she'll do anything to get him. Absolutely anything. She can't stand the fact that LORCAN wants LASSAR and wants LASSAR to go as far away as possible. LASSAR is happy to oblige, but LORCAN has his eyes fixated on the peasant beauty. There is a secret that FEMALE has though. She has wanted LORCAN for a very long time. Everyone knows that LORCAN'S wife killed herself.... Or did she? The only person who knows the truth is her killer... FEMALE.-Lorcan and Lassar meet in the market place. Lorcan tries to woo her, but does not succeed.
-Lorcan and Lassar meet again in a banquet for the court. Lorcan asks her for a dance and Lassar obliges.
- Lorcan starts courting Lassar.
- Female becomes jealous, and threatens Lassar to leave Lorcan alone. Lassar is happy to oblige.
-Female, angered by Lassar and Lorcan's union, makes several attempts on Lassar's life.
-Female eventually gets caught in the act and unthinkingly admits how she murdered Lorcan's wife.
